A man who had a standoff with police pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to that incident, including four counts of throwing a corrosive liquid at officers.

James Dallas, 70, was involved in a seven-hour standoff with police on March 28, 2019 on Happy Valley Road in Pembroke.

Mr Dallas pleaded guilty to trespassing on the property, which used to be the Prison Officers headquarters, in addition to the four charges of throwing a corrosive liquid at the officers.

He also pleaded guilty to using threatening words when he said, “I will kill any police who tries to enter the building. Someone will die today.”

He was granted $5,000 bail with one like surety. He is to have no contact with the four police officers, stay at least 100 yards away from 19 Happy Valley Road and submit to a mental health assessment and a social inquiry report.
