President Cordeiro Concludes Bermuda Visit
President of the Regional Government of the Azores Vasco Cordeiro has concluded his visit to Bermuda.
President Cordeiro and a delegation from the Azores visited the Island from November 2 – 5, to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the arrival of Portuguese immigrants to Bermuda, and over the weekend a number of events were held to recognize the occasion.
“Prior to his departure today President Cordeiro had a Courtesy Visit with Premier David Burt and met briefly with the Cabinet,” a Government spokesperson said.
“He and the Azorean delegation then travelled to Spittal Pond Nature Reserve, the home of Portuguese Rock.
“There, President Cordeiro received a brief history of the significance of Portuguese Rock from the Acting Director of Community and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Kim Dismont-Robinson and Bermudian film maker Milton Raposo. Based on historical information Portuguese Rock represents the location where Portuguese sailors were shipwrecked in 1543.
“President Cordeiro and the Azorean delegation departed Bermuda this afternoon. They were extended well wishes by Government Whip and Chairman of the Bermuda Airport Authority, MP Lawrence Scott on behalf of the Government of Bermuda.”
Oh boy the photos! Could Burt etc do anymore! What I want to know is if the President raised the issue of mixed status legislation
