Fat Tire Massive MTB Lagoon Park Results

December 16, 2019

The Fat Tire Massive Lagoon Park race was held yesterday [Dec 15], with 83 racers competing in slippery conditions.

A spokesperson said, “Fat Tire Massive’s third event finally got the seasonal high winds and downpour that separate the hardcore cyclists from the rest. Thunderstorms spared the event, which saw 83 racers test their mud skills. Even on the practice as early as 8.00am, there were falls over roots and rocks made slippery by the spotty showers.

“In the Open 60 female class, formerly uncontested Nichole Mitchell finally faced a challenge from Caitlin Conyers. Both women completed six grueling laps, with Caitlin ultimately taking the win.

“Male and female 13 to 15 and open 30 classes ran together as usual for a total field of 28. In the 13 to 15 class, Monty Hastings, Ahzai Smith, and Gordon Smith juggled positions in the opening surge, but by the third lap Gordon had figured out the course and got his first season win. Ahzai took second place and Monty grabbed third.
