Biometric Collection For Canadian Visas
The Ministry of National Security is advising the public that there will be an upcoming Biometric collection session for Bermudians seeking Canadian visas, which is set to take place on January 29th and 30th.
Minister Wayne Caines said, “The public will be aware that specific identification criteria is now mandatory for some individuals applying for a Canadian visitor visa, work or study permit or permanent residency in Canada. This is mandatory for all foreign students, inclusive of Bermudian students.
“Previously Biometric collection needed to be done overseas. Now thanks to a partnership with the Bermuda Government and the Consulate General of Canada, Biometric collection will be available in Bermuda at the Department of Immigration from January 29 and 30, 2020.
“This is the second time that the Consulate has offered this service. On behalf of the people of Bermuda, we offer our sincere thanks to the Consulate General of Canada. We encourage all applicants who have the necessary documents in hand to take advantage of this opportunity.”

- When: January 29th & 30th, 2020
- Hours: 9:00 am to noon & 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Location: Department of Immigration, Government Administration Building, Parliament Street, Hamilton
“Can you use the service?
“First, please ensure that you do need to give your biometrics.
“You can use the service if you:
- live in, or can legally enter Bermuda
- applied for a visitor visa, study or work permit, or for permanent residence;
- paid the biometrics fee (CAD $85 individual applicant; CAD $170 maximum fee for families applying at the same time); and
- received a biometrics instruction letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
“Note: If you apply online for your visitor visa, study or work permit and pay the biometrics fee when you submit your application, you can get the biometrics instruction letter within 24 hours of applying. Please note that you have 30 days after receiving the letter to give your biometrics.
“Book an appointment to reserve your spot. To avoid line ups, book your appointment in advance. To do this, email CNGNYConsular@international.gc.ca and include your:
- surname
- given name
- date of birth
- phone number
- IRCC number on your biometrics instruction letter
“We will respond to your email within 48 hours. What to bring to your biometrics appointment
- your valid passport or other travel document
- your biometrics instruction letter
“Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your appointment time.
