Dr. Trimm Speaks At Dr King Service In Atlanta

Bermudian Dr. Cindy Trimm delivered the opening prayer today [Jan 20] during the Dr Martin Luther King Commemorative Service at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Speaking before the event, Dr. Trimm said she views this as an opportunity to further propel Dr. King’s legacy, saying, “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is incomparably one of the most influential men of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. His life and ministry radically changed not only the course of American history, but provided a leadership legacy which continues to influence the lives of people all the around the globe.”

The service is being held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Horizon Sanctuary, part of The King Center complex, and two-minutes from the original Ebenezer Baptist church where Dr. King served as co-pastor with his father from 1960 until his assassination in 1968. As a final farewell Dr. King’s funeral was held in the church.

Today is a holiday in the United States, with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday marking the birthday of the civil rights icon, with the holiday normally observed on the third Monday of January each year.
