Bus Service Set To Resume On Wednesday

Bus service will resume on Wednesday, but a critical safety concession was made to the operators to reduce the number of passengers on each bus.

BIU President Chris Furbert told Bernews, “a lack of communication was the big issue,” which saw the operators not go back to work yesterday morning.

The government had announced last Friday bus service would resume on Monday, and the operators could not understand why the bus service was resuming with social distancing of just three feet, when everywhere else was six feet.

They ironed out that issue, which will reduce the number of available seats from 17, as had been announced on Friday, to nine.

Mr Furbert said the buses would run on a Sunday schedule every day of the week starting on Wednesday for Phase 2.

  2. trufth says:

We are gassing these over-sized buses up for max of NINE people at a time??
    Is this really worth it?

Well that won’t work when we open schools? So what’s the plan Burtcoin?

    • Warrior says:

Makes no sense, but than again…. 12% wage cut doesn’t make sense either.

So you can’t have 10 people on a 20ft Boston Whaler according to Burt but he wants to put 17 in a 30 ft enclosed bus.

  4. Stinky D. says:

NINE that doesn’t make any sense. Leave them parked

Yeah right! Watch tonight come and there’s another article about how the bus service will be delayed once again. I felt sorry for those who were expecting to use the buses yesterday only to find out that the buses were cancelled!

I think we would be better served by employing the mini bus service if that’s the stance the union wants to take. Don’t use the PTB service so the drivers don’t need to work thus not get paid. Very sorry but a ridiculous waste from 17 to 9 or 6 feet to 3 despite health officials deciding this was an acceptable distance.

  7. Stevie says:

If 9 passengers at a time early. Remember first bus from Somerset 7.45. Next bus 8.45 then every 30 mins after that. Wrong. Should be every 30 mins from 7.45. Stupid.
