BFRS Extinguish Structural Fire In Devonshire
A person received “minor burns” following a fire on Derwent Lane in Devonshire this evening [July 12], the BFRS have confirmed.
A BFRS spokesperson said, “At 6:18pm this evening, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service Dispatch received a report of a structure on fire at Derwent Lane in Devonshire.
“At 6:20pm, the BFRS responded to the incident with 5 appliances and a total of 11 firefighters. On arrival crews reported seeing a single storey structure with smoke and flames issuing out of the eastern side of the building.
“The officer in charge of the scene instructed two firefighters to enter the premises through a door on the southern side of the house. The flames were quickly extinguished. The owner of the house received minor burns.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Investigators.”
