July 6, 2020

The Minister of Community Affairs and Sports Lovitta Foggo announced today that as a tribute to the late Earl Cameron, CBE, the Government television channel will air past coverage of the Bermudian film icon.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public will be aware that legendary Bermudian film actor Earl Cameron, passed away last Friday. He was 102-years-old.

“Today through July 12, from 10.00 am – 12 noon and 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm, the public can watch three featured programmes: Filmmaker’s Corner with Keith Caesar, ‘An Evening with Earl Cameron’ hosted by Dr. Kim Dismont Robinson, and ‘Earl Cameron- 100 Years’ at his theatre at City Hall hosted by Charles Webbe.”

Over the weekend, in tribute to Mr. Cameron, Minister Foggo said, “Mr. Cameron’s career spanned decades and broke barriers. As the first black actor to star in a British film, he became a pioneer in his field. The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs was honoured to host Mr. Cameron twice in recent years — for an evening of conversation in 2012, and most recently in 2017 to celebrate his 100th birthday.”

Today Minister Foggo added, “The Ministry of Community Affairs and Sports is pleased to honour and remember Mr. Cameron’s creative legacy and contributions. We are equally pleased that we can feature these films of Mr. Cameron sharing his career experiences and accomplishments in his own words. We encourage all residents, if they have an opportunity, to tune in to CITV this week to view these programmes to learn more about this Bermudian treasure.”
