‘Dale Eve Makes Three Impressive Saves’

September 10, 2020

Bermudian goalkeeper Dale Eve made three impressive saves to help Spennymoor Town claim a 2-0 victory against Whitby Town.

The club’s match report said, “In a finely balanced first half which saw Dale Eve make three impressive saves, Anderson’s dink over former Moors goalkeeper Shane Bland broke the deadlock past the half hour mark.

“Chances were at a premium in a scrappy second period, but Mulhern added his second goal in four days to put the game out of sight.

“Jason Ainsley made several changes to the side who beat Bridlington 5-0 on Saturday, with Anderson, Eve, Ben McKenna, Nathan Buddle, Tyler Forbes and Jason Kennedy coming in from the start.

“It was the home side who started the brighter, with Eve making two smart early saves from threatening Whitby attacks down the right.

“Moors were given an injury scare after twenty minutes when Buddle was forced off after a collision, with James Curtis replacing the defender who limped off.

“There was little in the way of chances for Moors in a fragmented first thirty minutes, but, a classy move and finish saw Whitby’s resistance broken.

“Glen Taylor made the goal, flicking a ball around the corner and through a gap in the opposition defence, allowing Anderson to beat Bland to the ball and dink in to the net.

“From that moment onwards Moors began to take charge of the half, with McKenna causing his marker a host of problems with his dazzling feet and trickery.

“The wingers cross was almost acrobatically flicked past Bland from Rob Ramshaw, but the midfielders effort sailed over the bar from close range.

“Eve showcased his shot stopping ability seconds before the interval when he tipped a pinpoint goal bound free-kick around the post.

“The second half was a tamer affair as Ainsley made alterations on the hour mark, bringing on Mulhern, Joe Tait, Adriano Moke and Stephen Thompson.

“It was Mulhern who grabbed the elusive second goal of the game, neatly chipping over Bland after he was played in on goal.”
