‘Sneak Peek’ Of Kites Installed At New Airport

September 1, 2020

Following their design contest last year, Skyport provided a look at what the kites look like installed in the ceiling of the airport building.

In an online post, Skyport said, “Remember the kite design contest we had last year? Well, here’s a sneak peek at what the kites look like installed in the ceiling of the new passenger terminal building.”

Skyport previously said, “We want to ensure the new terminal of the LF Wade International Airport feels Bermudian inside and out. One of the ways to achieve this is by incorporating Bermudian elements to the interior design. Kites are a big part of our culture.”

  1. Kites? says:

Well for all that guarantee money we are giving to Skyport / Aecon you would think that we could afford to put a few statues on the ceiling too? Not!

  2. sage says:

Wow, they even tied the tails on the right end.

  3. Vigilante says:

Great idea, Skyport, but those don’t exactly look like traditional Bermuda kites with individual patches of tissue paper. They look more like the easy modern method of stretching a single piece of some synthetic material over a frame…hopefully there will be a few “old school” kites up there somewhere!
