Governor Rankin Congratulates Premier Burt

The Governor John Rankin congratulated the Premier David Burt on the results of the General Election.

Government House posted online saying: “This afternoon the Governor was pleased to receive the Premier of Bermuda, the Hon E David Burt JP, MP to Government House. The Governor congratulated the Premier on the results of the General Election and said that he looked forward to working with him and the new Government in the discharge of their respective responsibilities under the Constitution.

“The Governor also welcomed the continuing strength of Bermuda’s democratic institutions which help to ensure the free and fair elections in which Bermudians have once again participated.”

    If you honestly think this country can sustain going independant you need to do some research. Bermuda is sinking in debt with no economic plan. Hamilton is starting to look like a ghost town with empty retail space, next year taxes are going to be raised so high noone is going to be able to do business (more will shut its doors). More unemployment, even less money in the public purse. The rich will pull out of here so fast and take their money with them, which will probably lead to banks leaving as well. So many hate the British empire but don’t say no to the benefit of having a UK passport or living in the UK when things get tough here or send their children there for schooling. You can’t have it both ways. SMDH!
