Player Tests Positive, SX10 To Forfeit Matches

October 23, 2020

The SX10 squad will forfeit the first round matches in the World Tens Tournament as one SX10 player has tested positive for COVID-19, so all members of the SX10 rugby squad have been self-isolating.

A spokesperson said, “The World Tens Series can confirm that one SX10 player has returned a positive COVID-19 test result, following the latest round of testing.

“All the remaining members of the Squad all tested negative at the same time, and since then, they have all re-tested again and have all recorded negative results.

“However, with the strict protocols in place by both the Government of Bermuda and the World Tens Series, all members of the SX10 squad have been self-isolating.

“SX10 will not take part in round one of the World Tens League this Sunday and Monday and will therefore forfeit their matches. The other six competing teams will all be awarded a 6-0 victory and awarded League points accordingly.

“The World Tens Series Management team is in close dialogue with local authorities and, at this stage, if the SX10 Squad continues to return negative test results, they will be ready to return to play next week for Round two of the World Tens Series League.”

As if nobody saw this coming . I can see the entire event getting cancelled in fact.
Then it begs the question , will they ALL observe strict quarantine ?

So we canceled cup match and Halloween but rugby is ok. Smh.

Not sure you can actually “cancel” Halloween. Frankly, I’d pour water on all quasi religious holidays on the basis they’re complete bollocks, but you have to choose your battles.

When does the war on Christmas start?

      • Santa Claus says:

Christmas definitely isn’t cancelled! The elves are feverishly (as in working hard) working on the latest toys for the world’s girls and boys (with frequent hand washing).
Kim Wilson et al can do what they like to crush the dreams of children in Bermuda, but I won’t let that happen. I won’t be a casualty of “cancel culture” and Kim and team can look forward to a lump of coal in their stockings.
Enjoy Halloween! And look forward to Christmas!
        Ho! Ho! Ho!

If the players have to test when they leave country of origin and when they land why weren’t those tests positive? Was this the day 4 test that was positive? Was there a re test? Doesn’t oxidative stress from working out often resukt in a false positive?
