Walkers To Hold Free PIPA Webinar Series
Walkers Bermuda will be holding a series of free Personal Information Protection Act [PIPA] webinars, beginning this Wednesday [Oct 7].
A spokesperson said, “Walkers Bermuda is pleased to launch a six-week complimentary webinar series exploring the topic of the Personal Information Protection Act 2016 [PIPA].
“The interview-style webinars will run each Wednesday, beginning 7 October, and will be led by Walkers’ Regulatory & Risk Advisory group senior associate, Melanie Fullerton. The webinars are designed to help local Bermuda businesses ensure they have the information needed to fully comply with PIPA.
“Each week, Melanie will focus on one particular industry and feature an expert from that field who is active in Bermuda. During the webinars, the legal and regulatory implications and requirements for professionals in the related field will be examined, as well as a review of frequently asked questions.
“Among the guest speakers are human resources professional, Nevine Lewis; medical industry expert, Kim Wilson; legal consultant to local charities, Shauna MacKenzie; Suzanne Williams-Charles of the ABIR Privacy Task Force; Jamillah Lodge of the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation; and Privacy Commissioner of Bermuda, Alexander White.
“It’s critical for local businesses and organisations, small and large, to be informed on PIPA and we feel it’s our duty to provide this opportunity to the public so people understand how the regulations may impact them,” shared Melanie Fullerton, who has been with Walkers since 2019, having joined from the Bermuda Monetary Authority’s legal enforcement and policy department. She added: “All are invited to attend.”
“The webinar series is free and open to the public. For more information and to register, please visit walkersglobal.com.”
