1609 Design is getting set to officially open its second location on Reid Street tomorrow [Nov 14].
A spokesperson said, “1609 Design is launching a second location as we expand our product line, which will surprise and bring joy to the local shopper.
“With memories of Christmas shopping at Trimingham’s, we want to carry that legacy of shopping with added soul and charm in an intimate space. Our mission is to bring exceptional customer service with ease and a comforting smile.
“Despite online shopping skyrocketing, we believe Bermudians are still in need of a physical space to escape and allow their senses to be uplifted and enthralled. Touch the fabrics and smell the candles; online shopping cannot deliver this experience.
“You want instant purchases and not to worry if they will come in time or if customs will clear it.
“1609 Design is famously known for its bespoke jewelry and somewhat funny cards; now we bring clothing from international designers as far as India and Israel. Beautiful dresses for special occasions and eco-sustainable swimwear to show a little skin. We also want to tap into the growing CBD market and bring skincare, hot chocolate, and coffee with this beneficial ingredient.
“Joanna Stapff, the owner of this shop of distinctive finds, wants to create a space where the arts are alive and she will use every form of art to express her dreams for her ideal boutique, using her far reaching windows with art installations and encouraging live musical performances.
“We have already lined up this season to have sip ‘n shop evenings with local artists like Purple Ferdinand and Da’Khari Love singing Christmas melodies. We are known to constantly innovate and create events for our customers like fashion shows at Huckleberry and Loren, where our local beauties showcase carefully curated designs.
“She understands the consumer, especially the effects of Covid and lack of travel causing serious rock fever. “This step to Reid Street is five years in the making and she is taking her brave entrepreneurial spirit and taking the leap into the the unknown and unnerving state of our economy.
