Cole Simons Sworn In As Opposition Leader
A swearing in ceremony was held this afternoon [Nov 2] at Government House, with Cole Simons officially appointed the new Opposition Leader.
Mr Simons – a veteran MP who represents Constituency #8 Smiths South – replaces former OBA Leader Craig Cannonier, who resigned as the Party Leader, however remains an MP. Mr Cannonier resigned last month following the OBA’s defeat at the polls, which saw the party win only six seats in the 36-seat House of Assembly.
The OBA previously confirmed that Mr Simons was the sole member of the OBA Parliamentary Group to officially lodge his nomination form for Party Leader and he was “elected by acclamation as the OBA Leader, and official Leader of the Opposition, as prescribed under Bermuda’s Constitution.”
The OBA has not yet appointed their Senators — as the official Opposition they get to appoint three Senators — and when asked by Bernews if we can expect any new faces, Mr Simons said “yes.”
Wrong guy…..sorry.
No one is ever happy.
Instead of looking over his shoulder constantly wondering what Dunkley is scheming, his first order of business should be retiring him to the dairy.
Another silly comment with no basis in reality.
I think Blue Carton’s comment is very prescient.
