Curfew Remains In Place For New Year’s Eve

Local officials are reminding people that contrary to erroneous social media posts, the 11pm to 5am curfew is in effect tonight for the New Year’s Eve holiday.

The Bermuda Police Service said, “Contrary to rumors circulating on social media that curfew restrictions have been lifted for NY Eve celebrations, the curfew remains in place at 11pm tonight.”

In addition, in today’s statement to release test results, Minister of Health Kim Wilson noted: “I would like to remind members of the public that, despite erroneous social media posts, the 11pm to 5am curfew is in effect tonight – New Year’s Eve.

“Additionally, ‘sleepovers’ at households other than your own are strongly discouraged. The objective of the curfew restriction is to minimize the mixing of households, especially if there is a risk of COVID-19 transmission due to recent travel or the ongoing outbreak. Please, Bermuda, celebrate safely this year. A safer end to 2020, helps ensure a safer start to 2021.”

While we are not, in anyway trying to compare it to having as much fun as a ‘real life’ party, if anyone is looking for a way to celebrate online, Bernews will be live streaming a ‘Virtual New Year’s Eve’ celebration this evening.
