Rare Bermuda ₤10 Banknote Being Auctioned

Live bidding will begin on January 7, 2021 for a rare ₤10 Bermuda banknote from 1964, with the auction expected to reach bids of up to $3,000.

The description of the note on WorldBanknoteAuctions.com says, “Highest denomination of the pre-decimal series and very scarce in all grades.

“According to the major reference on Bermuda banknotes [A History of Bermuda and its Paper Money by Nelson Page Aspen] the first 50,000 notes were not recorded as having been delivered [which would have included this note] and very few have appeared on the marketplace.

“In total, a maximum of 300,000 were printed, but probably fewer were issued. The example offered here is original, but does include some foxing due to improper storage. Still, a very scarce type and one that seldom appears on the marketplace.”

    Ahh , back in the day when money was actually worth something .
    At the time we switched over to dollars the exchange was done at a pound was = to 2.40 $
    I remember my poppa’s rent for a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom cottage on an acre of land with large growing gardens was 30 pounds a month .
