Video: BNV Interview With Governor Rena Lalgie
Governor Rena Lalgie joined Bernews today [Feb 18] for the latest episode in the Bernews News & Views series, with the Governor discussing a wide range of topics, including Covid-19, climate change, how she is enjoying Bermuda and more.
Prior to taking up her position in Bermuda, Governor Lalgie had more than 20 years experience working in a range of capacities including with the UK Treasury Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation; Department of Business, Innovation and Skills’ Counter-Terrorism and Security Review and more.
The Governor arrived in Bermuda in December of last year, becoming both the first female and first Black Governor in Bermuda’s more than four century history.
In her Christmas message she said, “From what I have already observed, albeit from a distance, it is clear that in times of crisis, this community pulls together, supporting the most vulnerable and those facing economic hardship.
“That collective spirit, if applied more generally, can achieve great things. The year ahead will be challenging but if we all work together in a spirit of friendship and fellowship, we will certainly accomplish more than working individually.”
Due to technical issues [on our end, we had a terrible connection!] we recorded the video, rather than live streamed it, and you can watch the full video below.
Thank you for this interview. It was nice to be able to have a chance to get to know our new Governor.
