Bermuda Alfresco Dining Festival To Be Held

March 19, 2021

The Bermuda Tourism Authority will be holding the 2021 Alfresco Dining Festival — which will include “outdoor dining at eighteen participating locations island-wide”  — from March 25 through April 3.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] will once again celebrate food culture and the island’s outdoor spaces with a Bermuda Alfresco Food Festival this Spring. The festival promoting outdoor dining at eighteen participating locations island-wide, will run from March 25 through April 3, 2021 with special lunch, brunch, teatime, and dinner options on offer.

“With the island’s array of beach-side bistros, restaurants on the edge of spectacular greens, and bustling sidewalk cafes, outdoor dining continues to prove a winning formula for foodies in Bermuda and visitors who particularly enjoy the outdoors. The alfresco approach lines up with a recent spike in demand for open air dining options that emerged through the pandemic.

“There are two signature BTA experiences to look forward to—marrying the elegance of Bermuda’s natural backdrops with the island’s culinary and event planning talent:

  • Bermudiana Live – Sunday, March 28 – 1-9 pm – An outdoor dining experience promoting restaurants and eateries along Bermudiana Road featuring live local entertainment. The street will be completely transformed into a pedestrian-only space, incorporating alfresco style seating. Reservations are recommended.
  • Bermuda Easter Brunch – Saturday, April 3 – 11 am and 2:30 pm – A brunch experience highlighting centuries-old local Bermuda holiday traditions and pastel-hued décor, where guests can bask in the delights of a typical Bermudian Easter. The day will be rich in island mystique as the event unfolds under the roofless Unfinished Church with its dramatic archways and weathered grey stone. Also expect delights for children courtesy of a kite-making station, along with nostalgic childhood games like hopscotch and marbles. Most importantly, diners will savour island cuisine rich in local food culture specific to Easter weekend. Choose from two seating options.

“Bermuda’s restaurant industry has been faced with the extraordinary challenges of 2020 and they have pivoted to provide innovative new food service options, rearranging indoor dining spaces, expanding takeout delivery service and transforming the outdoor dining experience.

“With the success of the enhanced 2021 Restaurant Weeks programme, the BTA looks forward to extending its partner support to event promotors and restaurateurs through the marketing of the Alfresco Food Festival. Learn more about the Alfresco Food Festival on the BTA website.”
