DeRosa Wins Another Gold Medal At SWAC
A day after being crowned the SWAC Women’s Shot Put Female Champion, Bermudian athlete Tiara DeRosa was on top the podium yet again.
Representing Mississippi Valley State, DeRosa had a top toss of 48.01 during the Women’s Discus Throw.
A delighted DeRosa said, “I was tired this morning, and my shoulders were tight so I stretched them out. When I started off I wasn’t doing so sharp and, I found myself neck and with Hanah White, who eventually finished second with a top toss of 47.52m.
“On my 5th throw I squatted down really low, lower than I usually do and when I followed through with the throw and I looked up the discus was still climbing and I knew at that moment that it was good.”
DeRosa concluded, “When the results were read out and White realized she no longer the leader, I could see the hurt in her eyes and that she was starting to tear up, I just went over to her to reassure her that she did a great job and it was a real fight to keep up with her, I felt it was a great way to end the day.”
