Narraway Continues Competing In Wisconsin

June 23, 2021

Nicholas Narraway was back in action competing on the Tour of America’s Dairylands in the Maritime Bay Classic Criterium course in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Narraway competed in the Men’s Pro 1 / Cat 2 race, and within minutes of the start, the first of several massive crashes disrupted the race.

The pit was busy as riders replaced everything from bikes, to wheels, to shoes. The course itself included a tight chicane. and broadcasters announced that average speeds were 33 – 35 mph with the initial crash happening while the peloton was moving at 30 mph.

Narraway finished 26th out of 59 finishers in a time of 1:14.57, while winner Cesar Marte clocked a winning time of 1:14:52.

Narraway said, “It was a little unnerving having a crash happen so early and at such high speeds, but the neutral laps gave me a chance to refocus. Fun course but with so many riders and tight corners the race was strung out making it hard to move up especially with all the team tactics blocking out other riders. Crit racing is different from road racing, I’m learning and hopefully improved results will follow.”

Unfortunately, Conyers did not start race 5 Women’s Pro 1 / Cat 2 race due to illness. She plans to be back in action for race #6.
