Bermuda Sailors Begin Competing In Spain

Sophia Dias, Trystan Hocking, Riley Lowe, and Cody Rans all started competing in the International Optimist Dinghy Association European Championships in Spain.

Two races took place on day one, with the Bermuda sailors in action.

In the Girls Division, Dias is in 80 with 82 points. She finished the first race 23rd, in the second race Dias was deemed UFD, which is a ruling where a boat is deemed to have prematurely started a race that is started under “U” Flag and is disqualified from that race and awarded the maximum number of points.

Lowe came off the water in the 96th place spot with 95 points after she finished 46th in the first race and 49th in the second race.

In the Boy’s Division, Rans is in 133rd with 86 points, he crossed the line 42nd in the first race, before finishing 44th in the second race of the day. Hocking is in 142nd with 90 points after he finished the first race in 42nd and then finished 48th in the second race of the day.
