Nicholas Narraway and Caitlin Conyers continued competing on the Tour of America’s Dairylands in the 2021 ToAD – D2 Criterium in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Narraway competing in the Men’s Pro 1 / Cat 2 Division race, finished 26th out of 54 – in a time of 1:15.27, while Clever Martinez clocked a winning time of 1:15:24.

Conyers competed in the Women’s Pro 1 / Cat 2 Division finished 14th out of 30 – in a time of 1:13.01, while Matilda Raynolds clocked a winning time of 1:12:14.

Narraway said, “Today’s race was flat out from the beginning, my plan was to work to stay at the front of the peloton, while trying to not exert all my energy.” Several $1,000 primes [preems - sprint laps] were offered causing sprint frenzies during those laps.”

“My goal was to remain calm and hold my place while others used their up their energy, throughout the race small groups of 3-6 would break off the front but would be brought back by the peloton.”

“With only 7 laps to go I made the break with a few other riders, we worked hard but in the end were caught by the peloton, the last few laps were all about not let riders off the front, so it came down to a bunch sprint finish,” concluded Narraway.

Conyers said, “I tried to race a lot smarter than before and sat in the group for most of the race to conserve energy, there was a 2-person break that went with about 5 laps to go.”

“They got away after a prime [preem] lap and the group seemed to not realize they had gone off the front, it took a while before the bigger teams started to chase,

“By the last lap it was a race for 3rd and I felt good, so I attacked on the finishing climb with one to go and tried to solo the last lap, but got caught by the field right before the line,” Conyers went on to say.

Conyers concluded, “I just didn’t quite have it for the last push up the hill, but it was a good race, and I am starting to improve on my positioning and moving around in the group.”
