Tennis: Costa Rica Defeat Bermuda
Bermuda played a 2 – 1 loss to Costa Rica in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Americas Group III promotion play-offs.
The doubles match decided the encounter between Costa Rica and Bermuda in Pool A. Jessee Flores and Pablo Nunez paired up to take on debutant James Finnigan and Gavin Manders and it was the Costa Rican pair who prevailed 6-4, 6-3 to clinch a place in the promotion play-offs.
Earlier in the tie, Trey Mallory had taken the first point for Bermuda with a 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-2 victory in two hours and 47 minutes. The match between Flores and Tariq Simons saw the Costa Rican winning 6-1, 6-2.
Bermuda and Puerto Rico will fight it out for 5th.
