Police ‘Not Aware Of’ Incident In Message

Noting they are aware of an “unverified social media message,” the police said they are “not aware of any similar incidents of sexual assault reported to police recently,” and reiterated that “any incidents of sexual assault should be reported at the earliest opportunity.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is aware of an unverified message being circulated on social media titled ‘Stay Safe Ladies.’ However, the BPS is not aware of any similar incidents of sexual assault reported to police recently.

“Nonetheless, the BPS Vulnerable Persons Unit would like to reiterate that any incidents of sexual assault should be reported at the earliest opportunity.

“In addition, anyone going out socialising is reminded to consider the following safety advice.

  • “If you are in the company of people you do not know very well, do not let your drink out of your sight.
  • “While out socialising, do not accept drinks from unknown individuals.
  • “Alcohol impairs your judgment. Always have a friend with you – use the buddy system.”
