Video: BIU President Holds Press Conference
The Bermuda Industrial Union [BIU] President Chris Furbert is holding a press conference this afternoon [Aug 23], and we will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.
This follows after the Government confirmed they received an “ultimatum letter” from the BIU President which said that if the Government ”refuses to make the necessary amendments” to the legislation they will be “calling on its membership for a two day shutdown” which will take effect August 30.
Update: The live broadcast has concluded and the 25-minute replay is below
Do they realise how much we hate their guts?
Dear Mr. Furbert, the question of how a copy of your letter to the Premier is not “the $64,000 question”. The good ship government is the only ship that leaks from the top. That fact is older than you are.
The real question from my perspective is why BUI workers claim to have a veto over the way Government drafts legislation. Are we in a democracy or a union-ocracy, where only union members have a real vote?
Spot on sir. Chris Furbert would not exist anywhere but Bermuda.
The premier been long lost touch.
If your not a friend or family.
A doctor or imaginary entertainer who other then these listed have benefited from anything this current govt has done for the island as a whole..
They keep talking about health insurance if keeping it going up was there plan, i apologize they succeeded there.
If the island was stoked like egos it would look pristine. Bermuda has never looked so bad, roads, stolen or wrecked bikes everywhere potholes big holes gingus.
can’t vait ’til monday
This has got to be a joke. It is no way we need to see the Country shut down for this non issue. The Union asked for all to pay dues, these are the rules that come with that request. Ever dues paying person, member or not, gets a vote. Its not rocket science.
