August 11, 2021

In highlighting how the “America’s Region shined” at the Olympics, the Panam Sports Organisation featured Bermuda’s Flora Duffy alongside other gold medal winners from the PanAm region such as the Jamaican women’s 4×100 relay team, the Canadian women’s football team, American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin and more.

As it pertains to Flora Duffy the organisation said, “The Pan American Games medalist and nine-time World Champion triathlete adds an even greater and more historic achievement to her successful career — an Olympic gold medal.

“Her incredible podium-topping performance not only gave her an elusive Olympic medal, but also gave the small island nation of Bermuda its first Olympic gold in history and second overall medal since it began competing at the Games in 1936.”

The Pan American Sports Organization is an international organization which represents the 41 National Olympic Committees spanning the Caribbean, Atlantic as well as Central, South and North America. The organisation hosts the Pan Am Games every four years and Flora Duffy has previously won a PanAm medal.
