A tractor trailer traveling in Sandys “carrying a crane was attempting to negotiate a right hand bend when the load became unstable, causing the to crane tip over, breaking two Belco utility poles as it fell, before crashing into part of the Four Star Pizza Building,” the police have confirmed.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 12:55pm on 28th August 2021 police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Somerset Road near the junction with Tankard Lane involving a tractor trailer.
“Early indications suggest that a tractor trailer carrying a crane was attempting to negotiate a right hand bend when the load became unstable, causing the crane to tip over, breaking two Belco utility poles as it fell, before crashing into part of the Four Star Pizza Building.
“There were no reported injuries, however some residents in the Somerset area are without power and traffic delays are to be expected. Police are diverting traffic along Scott’s Hill Road and Sound View Road.

My guess is that the locking system for the boom on the crane failed , nothing to do with the unfortunate tractor trailer driver.
So lucky that there was no injuries and not much damage otherwise as it could have been disastrous .
