Hopkins & White Begin Competing In Belgium
Bermuda’s cyclists started competing today [Sept 20] in Belgium with Kaden Hopkins and Conor White contesting the 30.3 kilometer individual time trial in the Under 23 category.
A spokesperson said, “Starting in Knokke-Heit and finishing in Brugge along a completely flat course, both Bermuda riders turned in impressive efforts, averaging over 48 kilometers per hour [29.8 mph].
“Hopkins was the fastest Bermuda finisher in 37:21 for 48th place and White was just 15 seconds back at 37:36 for 50th place. The new U23 time trial champions is Johan Price Pejterson of Denmark who covered the course in 34:29.
“Next up is the Junior individual time trial tomorrow afternoon. Liam Flannery and Alexander Miller will be taking on the best juniors in the world over 22 kilometers using a shorter version of the race course today.”
