Wilton Re Donates $15,000 To Knowledge Quest
Wilton Reinsurance Bermuda Limited has donated $15,000 to Knowledge Quest in support of academic scholarships.
A spokesperson said, “Knowledge Quest, a Bermuda-registered charity [knowledgequest.bm], was founded in 2001 with a mandate to promote further education for Bermudians with limited financial means and who have otherwise been unable to secure financial support for their further education.
Cynthia Cox, Knowledge Quest director said, “Covid-19 has hit those in need the hardest and so summer savings and family assistance continue to be down, similar to last year. We thank Wilton Re for their generosity and for investing in a positive future for Bermuda. 100% of their donation is applied to scholarships.”
“This year, Knowledge Quest has awarded scholarships to 16 new recipients as part of their response to the increased needs associated with Covid-19 job losses and a shrinking economy.
Sylvia Oliveira, CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda said, “We appreciate Knowledge Quest’s hard work in providing much-needed financial support to motivated young Bermudians seeking university degrees. Their work changes lives, and we are grateful to be able to help. We especially appreciate that the Covid-19 pandemic has created greater fiscal challenges for many students at a time when there are ever more limited resources.”
Brendan Kemp, CFO of Wilton Re Bermuda added, “Kudos to Knowledge Quest who support deserving Bermudians achieve their education aspirations. In the wise words of Nelson Mandela, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world’. It is a pleasure to support the scholarship program in these unprecedented Covid-19 times as Knowledge Quest continue to uplift the future of Bermuda.”
