Special Olympics Bermuda held their first Polar Plunge today [Dec 4] at Horseshoe Bay, with people taking the plunge to support the charity.
A spokesperson previously said, “The Polar Plunge is a registered trademark fundraising event for Special Olympics around the world and is increasing in popularity in the US and Canada, and hopefully here in Bermuda.
“Participants are encouraged to plunge in creative costume with prizes awarded for best costume in six individual and team categories.

“Special Olympics Bermuda [Registered Charity # 972], was formed with a mission to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities providing the athletes with continuous opportunities to develop their physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.”
