January 10, 2022

The Bermuda Tourism Authority announced the launch of Bermuda Restaurant Weeks 2022, a four-week celebration of Bermuda food culture to run from January 13 to February 11, 2022.

A spokesperson said, “In its eleventh year, the campaign continues to grow and evolve with this year’s focus on Restaurant Rockstars, the service providers, chefs, waiters, and bartenders who continue to elevate Bermuda’s culinary scene. Restaurant Weeks was created to celebrate Bermuda’s food culture, create exciting food culture experiences and generate business for the hospitality industry.

“The winter food festival will feature over twenty-five culinary venues, three new restaurant partners and a signature Restaurant Weeks experience. Chefs from Thyme and St Regis’ Lina and BLT restaurants are first-time participants and will offer Bermuda-inspired culinary offerings for the public. Diners can choose from an array of lunch or dinner menus offering multi-course meals ranging from $22 – $52 per person.”

Tashae Thompson, Director of Experiences, Bermuda Tourism Authority said, “As we launch Restaurant Weeks 2022, we are excited to celebrate the hundreds of food and beverage professionals who drive the success of Bermuda’s restaurant industry.

“From the creativity of Bermuda’s chefs and the talented kitchen crews to the knowledgeable waitstaff, bartenders and front-of-house team, the smiles, storytelling, and professionalism help make Bermuda’s food culture an unforgettable part of the Bermuda experience. We encourage locals and visitors to take advantage of the unbeatable prices and memorable culinary experiences and support our restaurant rockstars.”

The BTA said, “Restaurant Weeks faced uncertainties and logistical challenges in 2021 as the world navigated the pandemic. In response, organisers incorporated a hybrid of virtual and alfresco signature experiences with socially distanced dining at restaurants. Despite the new complexities, many participating restaurants found that both local and visiting guests were inspired to return to in-person dining last winter in significant numbers. The BTA aims to drive similar growth in visitor and local traffic for Bermuda’s restaurants through this initiative.

“For the 2021 edition, Restaurant Weeks paid homage to Bermuda’s local food harvest heroes - fisherman, culinary artisans, honey-makers, and farmers. Inspired by the success of that approach, organisers have urged restaurateurs to once again create Bermuda-inspired menus with a particular focus on four local food-harvest areas: lobster, goat cheese, honey, and locally grown produce.

“Later this year, the Bermuda Tourism Authority plans to highlight additional food tourism events, including some developed by the most recent cohort of BTA Experience Investment Programme grant recipients.

“Participating restaurants and menus are available on the Bermuda Tourism Authority website.”
