Three People Injured In Separate Collisions
A 13-year-old female pedestrian was injured on North Shore Road, and in a separate incident a car driver struck a pole in Middle Road.
Collision involving a pedestrian:
A police spokesperson said, “Shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday 26th January, 2022, police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in personal injury involving a motorcar and a pedestrian [13-year-old schoolgirl].
“Information received indicates westbound traffic had come to a standstill and the pedestrian, who was walking east along North Shore Road in between stationary traffic, suddenly ran across the road into the path of the motor car which was traveling in an easterly direction.
“The victim sustained a leg injury along with minor abrasions to her left knee and was taken to KEMH for medical attention.
The motorcar involved was left with minor damage to the front end. Anyone with information on this matter, is asked to call 211, or, the main police number, 295-0011.
“The incident resulted in traffic delays for commuters traveling west on the North Shore Road. However normal traffic flow was restored after approximately thirty minutes.
Single vehicle collision:
“Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, 26-Jan-2022, police and other first responders attended a single vehicle road traffic collision along Middle Road near the junction with Overplus Lane, Sandys.
“Initial reports suggest the 22-year-old male driver was travelling west, when he lost control of his private motorcar and struck a utility pole.
“The 22-year-old female passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle by Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.
“Both occupants were conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and were later discharged.”
