Devonshire Cougars & Somerset Trojans Win
Two football matches yesterday saw nine goals scored as the Devonshire Cougars and Somerset Trojans picked up wins.
Devonshire Cougars 3 – Devonshire Colts 1
The Devonshire Cougars picked up an important 3 – 1 win over the Devonshire Colts at the Devonshire Recreation Club to move into second place in the Premier Division, having played three games more than the PHC Zebras.
It only took six minutes for the Devonshire Cougars to take the lead as Che’kai Caisey found the back of the net. In the 11th minute, the score was doubled as Drewonde Bascome found the back of the net.
The Devonshire Cougars took that 2 – 0 lead to the break, however in the 63rd minute the Devonshire Colts pulled a goal back with Brandon O’Connor scoring, but Domico Coddington restored the Devonshire Cougars two-goal lead with a strike in the 67th minute.
Somerset Trojans 4 – Somerset Eagles 1
After a scoreless first half at the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Trojans outscored the Somerset Eagles 4 – 1 in the second half to move up to fifth place in the standings.
Nathan Rego opened the scoring in the 67th minute giving the Somerset Trojans the lead, Jaz Ratterray Smith doubled the Somerset Trojans lead in the 73rd minute, Rego would then make it 3 – 0 to the Somerset Trojans in the 77th minute, before completing his hat-trick with a strike in the 90th minute. The Somerset Eagles got on the scoresheet in stoppage time with Shakir Smith scoring.
