Five Bermuda Track Athletes Compete Overseas
Five Bermuda track athletes — Nathan Simons, Andrew Armstrong, Diarra-James Powell-Burgess, Ryan Outerbridge & Robert Edwards Jr. — recently competed overseas.
Nathan Simons
Nathan Simons and his Mount Marty men’s track & field teammates competed in the Mount Marty Last Chance Indoor Track Meet which was their last home meet of the indoor track & field season. Simons competed in the men’s 200m finished 5th clocking a time of 22.42.
Andrew Armstrong
Andrew Armstrong represented Pompton Lakes men’s track & field at the NJSIAA Sectional Championships. He competed in the men’s 400m dash finishing 7th with a time of 56.02, and also took part in the men’s 800m race finishing 4th clocking 2:10.75.
Diarra-James Powell-Burgess
Diarra-James Powell-Burgess and his Clayton State men’s track & field teammates collected five wins in the Sewanee Indoor Invitational.
Powell-Burgess was a member of the Clayton State men’s track & field men’s 4x400m relay team that clocked a winning time of 3:39.16, and he also finished 5th clocking a time of 6.80 in the 55m dash.
Ryan Outerbridge
Ryan Outerbridge and his Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field teammates competed at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, hosted by MIT.
In the Men’s Mile, sophomore Outerbridge clocked a time of 4:30 to finish in second place and he was also a member of the Franklin Pierce men’s 4×800-meter relay that clocked a winning time of 8:21.
Robert Edwards Jr.
Robert Edwards Jr. and his Saint Augustine University Men’s track and Field teammates competed in the CIAA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track.
Competing in the men’s 5000 meter run Edwards Jr. clocked a time of 16:46.62 finishing second, he also finished 6th during the men’s 800 meters in a time of 2:04.36, finished 3rd clocking a time of 4:41.73 in the mile and was a member of the Saint Augustine’s men’s distance medley relay team that finished 3rd with a time of 11:18.19.
