Trey Mallory Helps UNCW Win Home Opener
Trey Mallory and his UNC Wilmington men’s tennis teammates captured the early doubles point and tacked on five singles victories for a 6 – 1 decision over visiting Wofford in the home opener at the UNCW Courts.
The defending Colonial Athletic Association champions improved to 1-2 with the win over Wofford from the Southern Conference. Wofford dropped to 0-6 after losing its fifth straight road match.
UNCW won the doubles point after claiming matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and then swept the first three matches off the court in singles to clinch the win.
Trey Mallory and Dillon Gooch teamed up at the number 3 doubles and defeated Will Fullett and Mark Endler 6-3.
Freshman Mallory extended the margin to 3 – 0 after defeating Wofford sophomore Fullett, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 6 singles spot.
