Casey Truran’s Team Qualify For Nationals
Casey Truran and his Savannah College of Art and Design [SCAD] equestrian team were declared Champion of the IHSA Zone 5 Finals and are now eligible to compete in the ANRC National Equitation Championships.
A spokesperson said, “The SCAD Equestrian Team, of which Bermuda’s Casey Truran is a member, was declared Champion of the IHSA Zone 5 Finals with 48 points. The Finals were held on Saturday 2nd April at the Ronald C. Waranch Equestrian Center. Zone 5 is one of the larges IHSA zones encompassing the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
“Casey and his SCAD equestrian team are now eligible to compete in the American National Riding Commission [ANRC] National Equitation Championships. The ANRC event is an invitational championship which includes collegiate, junior, and adult amateur teams. The Championship is scheduled to take place at Centenary University, New Jersey from 14th – 16th April.
“In addition, the SCAD equestrian team has successfully qualified for the 53rd Intercollegiate Horse Show Association [IHSA] National Championship, the highlight of the equestrian collegiate competition calendar.
“To qualify for the prestigious IHSA National Championship, student athletes accumulate points at multiple IHSA shows held throughout the academic year. The top individuals and teams qualify to compete in the IHSA Zone Finals, with the top finishers continuing onto compete at the IHSA National Championship.
“After a two-year hiatus due to the global pandemic, this year’s IHSA National Championship, will be held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg from 5 th to 8th May 2022. Judging this year’s prestigious IHSA National Finals will be USEF “R” judges Tom Brennan and Todd Karn.
