Students Receive Presentation On Electric Buses

Students participating in the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s [BUEI] Youth Climate Summit Programme were given a presentation and tour of the Department of Public Transportation’s [DPT] new electric buses.

A Government spokesperson said, “DPT Acting Operations Manager, Michael DeLeon, and Adrian Dill, Department of Energy highlighted the features of the new bus and talked with the students about the positive impact of the new fleet on the environment. After the tour, students were taken on a short ride to the main bus depot in Hamilton.

“BUEI’s Youth Climate Summit programme is a youth-led, action based initiative, with student representation from schools across Bermuda, focused on Conservation, Sustainability and Climate Justice projects.”

    Those busses will have just as big a carbon footprint. Please educate these students with the true facts. But if you only know of what you have been indoctrinated with to know, I don’t expect any better coming from any government.

      Not a constructive comment. If you know something, say something or….take a red pill and chill!

      Not true. Even running off BELCO power, it is producing less carbon than a small engine like in the other buses. Also, thee emission produced from older buses are spread around the entire country at human-height.

    Please supply details, how long does it take to charge the buses all 30 of them! Can someone work out how fuel belco uses to charge the buses ,and whats the plan when the batteries need changing ! Dump at the airport?
