Bermudian showjumper Casey Truran has been recognised for his “service and effort” by the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Truran has received the Unsung Hero Award, which “is presented to an individual who exemplifies dedicated service and effort, with outstanding sportsmanship, team spirit, as well as the utmost respect for fellow teammates, coaches, and horses.”

Ashley Henry, the SCAD equestrian team head coach, said Casey was “the perfect role model for the award’s description. Casey is an incredible teammate and cheerleader. He always put his teammates first while also working just as hard himself at achieving his goals.”

Truran has enjoyed an impressive season and was the high-point rider at several Intercollegiate Horse Show Association [IHSA] regional shows.

He was the IHSA reserve champion rider at the Regional Cacchione Cup, awarded to Open Flat and Fence riders and based on the number of points earned throughout a season.

Coach Henry added: “Casey is the first person to step up when the work gets tough and offer to do the dirty work. He always knows how to put a smile on your face and has been a great athlete.”
