Photos: Whitney Students Clean Up In Smith’s
The John Smith’s Bay area is much cleaner today thanks to the efforts of Whitney Institute Middle School students, who spent part of yesterday cleaning up the area.
The M3 students participated in a KBB Clean Up Day in the John Smiths Bay Area on Tuesday [May 24] which was organized by Team Leader Silita Thomas along with Traci Burgess, Executive Director of KBB.
“The students met at John Smith’s Bay and collected trash along the surrounding areas and also participated in a coastal clean up,” a spokesperson said.
“Ms. Burgess met with the students to explain the trash sorting process. KBB provided the students with equipment for trash collection and reviewed the safety procedures.
“The purpose was to give back to the Smith’s community area. The intention was also to encourage students to be mindful of their eco footprint and encourage their development as responsible citizens.
“Whitney Institute Middle School is also involved with the BUEI Eco Schools program and this activity focused on protecting and caring for our earth and environment.”

Thank you and a big ‘well done’ to the Whitney students and faculty.
Although no-one should have to clean up after other ‘couldn’t care less’ people this is much appreciated and does not go unnoticed.
