Solstice Bermuda Open House On June 9
Solstice Bermuda will open its doors to healthcare professionals and educators in an effort to strengthen the support offered to those in the local community.
The Open House event next Thursday [June 9] is an opportunity to learn about the programmes, services and therapies available – and connect with Solstice team members.
Kelly Madeiros, the Solstice director, believes there has been an increase in the complexity and severity of mental health issues in Bermuda over the past two years.
“We knew that anyone working in healthcare or educational settings would also be experiencing an increase in mental health presentations with their clients,” she told Bernews.
“We wanted to make sure that our healthcare providers and educators knew there is a world-class centre for mental health in Bermuda and as providers, they don’t feel isolated in their practices or classrooms when trying to help others.”
The Open House will also provide an opportunity for those who work with children to learn about evidence-based programmes such as play therapy and expressive art therapy,
Dr Eloise Pitts Crick, the executive director of Solstice, said she is proud of the pathways the Hamilton-based holistic wellness centre provides in training and developing Bermudians to provide clinical support.
“The Research, Education and Training [RED] training pathways are designed for Bermudians at the start of their mental health careers to gain valuable clinical experience and training, allowing them to compete effectively for places on the most demanding and sought-after international training courses, including Clinical Psychology Doctoral programmes.”
