Govt Presents SCC With $50K For Cup Match
“We shall never forget the importance of this annual two-day cricket classic. Cup Match is so much more than a two-day cricket game – it is part of our culture and heritage,” said Premier David Burt at the cheque presentation to the Somerset Cricket Club.
The Premier said, “The Government understands that for both Clubs to host Cup Match is a big financial undertaking. We know the clubs rely on the corporate community for sponsorship and support. However, additional funding is required. The government will continue to support both Clubs to recognise the historical and cultural significance of the Cup Match. Today, I am honoured to present a cheque for $50,000 to the Somerset Cricket Club.
“On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, I commend Vashun Blanchette, President of Somerset Cricket Club and the club officers for their hard work in preparing the grounds in anticipation of the 2022 Cup Match. I also extend best wishes to both cricket teams.”
Premier Burt, SCC President Vashun Blanchette & Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport Dr Ernest Peets

What about St. George.
Talk about seeking support.
Securing votes
these clubs make thousands at cupmatch
Thousands?! More like 6 figures lol these clubs make thousands on regular days of the week. This was to buy votes that’s all
whatever they spend it on should be made public !!! too many clubs are mismanaged but still receive funds etc !!!!
Vote buying. Plain and simple.
No honesty.
Give money
When the debt has to be paid and when the crunch comes they have lots of clubs to run for cover. A spoiled population loves this as it ain’t their problem till it comes. Soon.
Wow! PLP friends and family distribution at its worst!
How is CM not profitable to the clubs given entry money and sale of spots and pitches, or are they giving them away too??
Particularly repulsive when the country is on its knees, wouldn’t this money be better spent on feeding people?
