ICLI & College To Launch Coaching Programme
The International Coaching & Leadership Institute [ICLI] is joining forces with Bermuda College to offer a new coach training and leadership development programme for local students and professionals.
A spokesperson said, “Beginning in October 2022, the Coaching Foundations Certificate [CFC] Program will be available in two different formats — a three-day intensive and five-week online course. The faculty of instructors and mentor coaches involved in the programme are all certified by the International Coaching Federation [ICF].
“Participants will learn about coaching core competencies, the ethical standards of coaching, and how to coach with cultural competence. They will also gain direct coaching experience and training through one-on-one peer coaching and group coaching activities, as well as have access to six hours of mentor coaching evaluation and feedback.
“Coaching is widely understood to be an essential tool for effective leadership in the 21st Century. Research shows that when staff training is coupled with coaching, organisational productivity improves by up to 88%.”
Tawana Flood, Director of the Division of PACE at Bermuda College, said, “In this post-pandemic society, one which is fueled by technology, managers have to be able to provide support and guidance rather than just instruction to their team members.
“Today’s employees are more adaptable and innovative in carrying out their duties remotely. Managers have to keep up and evolve with their staff – no longer simply telling them what to do, but coaching and guiding them to realise their full potential instead.”
“With coaching, managers learn how to ask questions instead of providing answers. They support employees instead of offering judgement; they encourage staff development rather than dictating what needs to be done and how.
“Employers can either embrace this new blended model of work or risk being left behind. PACE is pleased to be partnering with the ICLI in bringing this training to Bermuda so quickly. ICF is the gold standard of professional coaching.
“Its certification is world class, widely accessed, and internationally respected. We look forward to what this opportunity will do for the local workforce – introducing adaptive and effective strategies for team building, employee development and enhancing business success.”
Lorene Phillips, ICLI’s Director of Business Development, said, “We are extremely excited to partner with the Bermuda College’s PACE division in the Autumn. As an alumni of Bermuda College, I am grateful to have the College’s partnership as we look to support and equip more professionals with the skills they need to thrive in the workplace, home and beyond.”
The spokesperson said, “As Bermuda’s only tertiary education body, Mrs Phillips said it was encouraging to know that the College understood ICLI’s vision and believed in the value their trainings could provide to both traditional and non-traditional students looking to gain clarity and confidence with coaching. With help from Ms Flood, ICLI has been able to design a programme encompassing 30 hours of training, which is suitable for people of all ages and professional backgrounds.”
Sophia Casey, ICLI’s Chief Learning Officer, said, “We believe this course will provide organisational leaders with the skills they need to effectively empower and inspire their team members to get to the next level in their careers.
“We have customised our full-length programme to create a shorter foundational intensive course to those interested in learning the basics of ontological coaching and leadership development. Graduates will walk away with skills to navigate real-world challenges and meet the demands of the ‘new normal’ so that they can sharpen their competitive edge and stay relevant in this fast changing world of work.”
The spokesperson said, “ICLI says the course will be of significant benefit to those looking to improve communication with their staff; make their organisations more welcoming and inclusive; and strengthen their ability to provide world-class customer service.”
Jessica Lightbourne, ICLI’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “When launching ICLI in late 2021, we never imagined we’d be able to impact this many lives here and abroad in such a short period of time. However, we are excited for all the opportunities and doors that have opened over the past year and look forward to seeing how this partnership with Bermuda College will help professionals to create positive and powerful coaching and leadership cultures across the island.”
The spokesperson said, “ICLI will be hosting a 90-minute information session about the new programme on Thursday, August 11th at 6pm. To sign up, visit www.trainingbyicli.com.”
