Bermudian drummer Andy Newmark performed at the “Lennon 1980” headline show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall as part of the International Beatleweek Festival on Friday.

Newmark, born in Port Chester, New York, to a Bermudian mother and American father, was among three musicians who played on John Lennon’s final pair of studio recordings, Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey.

According to internationalbeatleweek.com, “All three musicians [Newmark, Earl Slick and Tony Levin] performed on John’s last studio album Double Fantasy as well as the sessions for what would become John’s Milk and Honey album. They never got to perform together live with John Lennon before his tragic death in 1980.”

American musician Levin added: “It’ll have been, let’s see…42 years since the three of us played together, so it’s about time.”

Newmark, 72, was a member of Sly and the Family Stone and has played with George Harrison, John Lennon, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Roxy Music.

The International Beatleweek Festival celebrates the music of the Beatles, one of the world’s most famous pop groups, in their home city of Liverpool.
