Police Confirm Death Of 30-Year-Old Man

[Updated] A 30-year-old man has died following an altercation in Warwick and a “murder investigation has commenced,’” the police have confirmed.

A police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 8pm on Saturday 20th of August, Police received a report of a disturbance at an Astwood Walk, Warwick Residence. Two men were reported to have been stabbed after being involved in an altercation with several other men.

“The injured men were transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. However, one of the men has succumbed to his injuries and the other remains hospitalized.

“A murder investigation has commenced and is being lead by Detective Inspector Jason Smith of the Serious Crime Unit. Witnessed are being urged to contact DI Smith directly on 717-0864 or jsmith2@bps.bm.”

Update 2.45pm: Minister of National Security Michael Weeks said, “I want the family and friends of this young man to know that my heart goes out to them during this difficult time.

“I was saddened and disturbed by the news. Losing anyone through violence is not normal, especially in such a small community.

“I realise that many in our island have become desensitised to the community violence issue; however, these continuous acts point to a deeper problem that we must collectively confront.”
