Premier’s Trip To Consensus Cost $2,772.20
A trip in June 2022 by Premier David Burt for the Consensus 2022 cost $2,772.20, according to a recent listing on the Government’s travel webpage.
The trip duration was listed as June 30, 2022, and the web page listing said, “The Premier & Minister of Finance the Hon. E. David Burt led a delegation of the Bermuda Business Development Agency [BDA] and the Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA] including CEO of the BDA David Hart; Assistant Director of Fintech for the BMA, Aqsa Zubair; and Senior Fintech Advisor for the BMA, Moad Fahmi.
“At the conference, the Premier spoke at the Money Reimagine Summit, in a session entitled ‘BUIDL Island: Bermuda’s Digital Asset Strategy and met with Fintech companies to discuss Bermuda’s digital assets ecosystem. During the session, the Premier announced the launch of NEXT, the industry association made up of Bermuda’s Fintech companies.
“Additionally, RELM Insurance Ltd also announced that it had tripled its headcount in one year and is now the world’s largest digital assets insurer with 13 employees in Bermuda, all of whom are Bermudian.
“The Premier took part in a number of media interviews where he spoke about the 15 Digital Asset companies licensed and registered by BMA, the growth of the BMA register from 10 companies at the beginning of the year, as well as the 7 innovative insurance general business licensees which have been created in Bermuda following amendments to the Insurance Act 1978.
