Survey Results: Race Relations In Bermuda
“In a recent survey, residents continued to feel that there is a need for groups, such as CURB, to work toward racial justice,” Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda [CURB] said.
A spokesperson said, “In a recent survey, residents continued to feel that there is a need for groups, such as CURB, to work toward racial justice. More than 8 in 10 [83%] felt that there was a need, down marginally from the 86% recorded in 2019, but on par with the 83% recorded in 2014. [See Figure 1 below]

“While both racial groups felt there was a need to work toward racial justice, Blacks were more likely to feel that way compared to Whites and Others [87% compared to 74%, see Figure 2 below.]
The Status of Race Relations
“Residents were also asked if race relations had improved, stayed the same, or worsened over the past two years. Here, there was some differences between the two groups. While the feeling that race relations had improved in the past two years were virtually identical for both groups [approximately 1 in 7], Blacks were more likely to feel that race relations had remained the same [54%], while Whites and Others were more inclined to feel that race relations had worsened [42%, see Figure 3 below.]
How Race Relations can be Improved
“When asked about what could be done to improve race relations several solutions were put forward. For Blacks, the top grouped answer was honest communication, followed by equity in jobs and the need to be treated with equity and fairness. For Whites and Others, the top answer was to come together to be more culturally aware, education within schools and generally, and to take race out of politics.

“The survey was conducted among 409 residents by random telephone dialing and online. Some online responses were rejected as their telephone numbers could not be verified. The survey was carried out between July 03rd and August 07th. The survey has a margin of error of [plus or minus] ± 4.9%.”

Bingo. But it will never happen, because that’s all the PLP have.
So you’re upset at the PLP because voters left the 2 previous parties aka UBP and OBA. You need to look deep into the racism that existed and continue to remain alive to this day, in both those parties that cause people of color to depart.
