Ministerial Directions Under Section 5[6][A] And 5[7] Of The Regulatory Authority Act 2011

Extension of the Bermuda Electric Light Company Ltd.’s response to the Integrated Resource Plan Proposal

Having reviewed the request from the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda [“RA”] dated 27th October 2022 and pursuant to section 5[6][a] of the Regulatory Authority Act 2011, I Hereby give my consent to an extension of the period within which the Bermuda Electric Light Company Ltd., as the Transmission, Distribution, and Retail Licensee, must respond to the RA’s request for an Integrated Resource Plan [“IRP”] Proposal under sections 40 and 41 of the Electricity Act 2016. I provide my consent on the basis that it would be in the best interest of the public to allow more time for the IRP Proposal to be created in light of several developments since the last IRP, including technological innovations and the introduction of legislation that allows innovators the physical and regulatory space to study and implement utility-scale generation technologies. The new response must be received by 17th November 2023.
