With Ronaldo dropped to the bench by coach Fernando Santos, Ramos stepped up with a stunning display of finishing for Portugal, who will face Morocco in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Also on the scoresheet for the ruthless Portuguese were 39-year-old Pepe, Raphael Guerriero and Rafael Leao.
Switzerland did manage to pull a goal back through defender Manuel Akanji.

Achraf Hakimi scored the winning penalty as Morocco pulled off an upset to beat Spain in a penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw to reach the quarter-finals.
