Two People Injured In Collision In Southampton

A 67-year-old car driver “suffered a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn” in Southampton this afternoon [Dec 5] and both the driver and the passenger were injured.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 1:20pm on Monday 5th December 2022, Police and other first responders attended a report of a single vehicle collision along Riviera Road, Southampton.

“Initial information suggests that a 67-year-old man driving a motorcar and his 62-year-old female passenger were exiting a private drive, where it is believed the driver may have suffered a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

“The female passenger was able to free herself from the vehicle, however, the male driver who was unresponsive at the time, had to be extracted from the vehicle by Bermuda Fire Service and Rescue Service.

“Both victims were taken by ambulance to KEMH for treatment of their injuries, the extent of which is not known at this time.
